PTC Board Liaison Assignments to PTC Programs

President

Highslide JS

Jessica Rafanan
This is Jessica's second year on the PTC Board. Both her daughters attend Maidu: one is a 2nd grader, and the other is in Kindergarten. Jessica has been impressed by the dedication of the teachers as well as the enthusiasm of Maidu and Excelsior parents. She is looking forward to an exciting year on the Board and is happy to be able to give back to the schools.

Past President

Highslide JS

Elaine Arndt
Elaine served as the Maidu/Excelsior PTC President for the past two years. She finds PTC service a great way to empower parents and to provide needed materials and services to our schools . Elaine was also a Maidu VP for 2 years, Excelsior "Band Mom" and Destination Imagination Team Manager, as well as science docent, and watercolor docent, and art docent at both schools. She also served on the Program Analysis, Long Term Planning, and Visioning committees for the Eureka Union Schools District. She enjoys watercolor painting, swimming, tennis, traveling, and reading.

Carolyn Brosnan
Carolyn is new to the Maidu/Excelsior PTC board. She coordinated events for PTC last year and has served on other parent/school boards in the past. Like the other board members, she sees how important it is to be involved with the schools and their children's education. She remembers Elaine Arndt speaking at Back To School Night last year. Elaine said that participating in your child's education and in PTC can show your child how much you value their education and school. This inspired Carolyn to participate and help as she could. She wants to stay informed as our state and district meet new challenges. While working with the PTC she has enjoyed meeting new people. Their innovative ideas help our schools, teachers, and parents.

Treasurer
Highslide JS Colleen Calandra Freund
This is Colleen's first year on the PTC board. She is relatively new to the Maidu/Excelsior community and is excited to become part of an organization that is so fundamental to the schools. Colleen has a first grader and a kindergartener at Maidu. She looks forward to working with the many great parents and teachers that make up this wonderful school district.

Secretary
Highslide JS

Tami Lynch
This is Tami's second year as the PTC Secretary. This year, Tami continues to coordinate eNews and Excelsior Picture Days and oversee all the various PTC volunteer opportunities. Tami has one daughter in 5th grade, Madelyn Ackler. Being part of the PTC is important to Tami because she can be involved in school activities without “bugging” her daughter in the classroom, get to know the teachers and parents and hopefully enhance her daughter’s educational experience during the early years of her life – plus, it’s just downright FUN FUN FUN!
